Email Setup in Thunderbird

To set up your TPG email address in Thunderbird, simply follow the steps below.

  1. Open Thunderbird

    Note: If it's a first time setup, you'll be taken straight to the Account Setup page

  2. Select File > New > Existing Mail Account (or under Choose What to Set Up, select Email)

  3. Enter the following details in the Account Setup tab:

    Your name: Your name as you'd like it to appear on any emails you send
    Email address: Your TPG email address
    Password: Your TPG email address password
    Remember password: Ticked

  4. Select Configure manually and enter the following settings.

    Incoming Protocol: POP3
    Incoming Server: mail.tpg.com.au
    Incoming Port: 993
    Connection Security: SSL/TLS
    Authentication: Normal password
    Username: Your TPG email address

    Outgoing Server: mail.tpg.com.au
    Outgoing Port: 465
    Connection Security: SSL/TLS
    Authentication: Normal password
    Username: Your TPG email address

  5. Select Re-test. You should see the following message:

    Thunderbird Retest Successful
  6. Select Done to finish.

    Note: You may need to wait for Thunderbird to finish loading your mailbox before the toolbar for your inbox will appear on the left-hand side of the screen, allowing you to send and receive mail. This can take around 5 minutes - you'll see a status message at the bottom of the screen.
